Job Description:
The Software Performance Engineer (SPE) will be assigned to BTO Operations’s Performance Center of Excellence (PCoE).
The SPE will be responsible for:
• the definition of application performance requirements
• assimilation of performance-oriented best practices in the architectural specification and design phases
• participating in Agile development lifecycle including PCoE task estimation and execution within each sprint
• executing performance tests using industry-standard technologies (e.g. LoadRunner)
• application and system configuration tasks related to application deployment and lab management
• diagnosing performance bottlenecks
• performing code analysis and inspections
• conducting performance tuning
The SPE will work closely with product management, development, and QA management and engineers.

Technical
• In-depth understanding of system performance concepts
• Experience in solving performance and scalability issues of highly transactional, database-intensive, multi-tier applications spanning LAN/WAN/Internet
• Understanding of Java internals (memory heap allocation, garbage collection, threading, etc…
• Proven experience and deep understanding of J2EE technologies such as JSP/JSF, Servlets, EJB, JDBC, JMS
• Some familiarity with J2EE open-source frameworks (e.g. Spring)
• Experience with RDBMS database development, tuning and administration. Hands on experience with Oracle and MS SQL would be a plus
• Experience in SQL query optimization
• Experience measuring, tuning and improving performance of Java runtimes and applications (especially threading, synchronization, and memory management) and/or application servers such as Websphere.
• Experience with JProfiler, OptimizeIt, YourKit, HP Diagnostics, or other Java performance tools.
Education
• Computer Science degree or a combination of equivalent educational and work experience
